Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve pre-ordered. When can I expect my magazine?

First of all, thank you! Pre-orders are really important and they open ahead of the issue going on general sale.

Issue 2 is available now
Issue 3 is available now
Issue 4 is available now
Issue 5 - Pre-orders opening May 2022

I’m not based in the UK. Can I still order a magazine?

You can! If you are based in USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or India you can place orders, including pre-orders, here on the main website or our Etsy storefront.

If you are ordering from inside the EU, or a state in the USA that you know charges sales tax, please order via the Etsy storefront. This is to ensure that customers are not hit with further charges once the magazine has arrived in the destination country. Etsy calculates any relevant VAT or customs tax at the checkout, then this can be clearly communicated on the shipping labels. It is with regret that pre-orders are not currently available to EU customers as Etsy does not support this type of listing.

Your shipping seems expensive.
Can I get it cheaper?

Postage & Packaging has been given a lot of careful consideration trying to achieve a balance between swift and efficient shipping, and eco-conscious, quality packaging. Charges are calculated by weight and magazines get real heavy, real quick! (Especially when heading overseas, I’m endlessly sorry and grateful in equal measure to our Australian readers in particular about this!) Costs are being reviewed regularly to ensure Shrunk. readers are getting the best value and that the costs of shipping the magazine are being covered. Please also keep in mind that if you do ask for a reduction in shipping fees you are asking a (very) small, independent business to foot the cost. This is not currently financially viable and the answer will be a polite but firm no.

UK orders ship 1st class Royal Mail, usually arriving between 1-3 working days. All overseas orders are shipped via Royal Mail International Standard. This is not a tracked service. Royal Mail advises items should arrive within 7-12 working days. This will vary depending on the region.

A note on our printing & packaging:

Shrunk. is currently shipped using No Issue, 100% compostable mailers.
These are reusable! When opening, ensure to cut where indicated. Inside there is a second, self-adhesive strip enabling your mailer to be used a second time. When it reaches the end of its life, simply remove any labels and pop the mailer in your compost bin.

Shrunk. uses a local, 100% carbon offset printing company to produce our magazines.
All shipping labels are now printed using thermal printers and in instances where dispatch notes are used, the paper is recycled.

Can I subscribe?

Afraid not, but we’re working on it!
The Bundle offer has now closed. I hope to be able to offer something similar next year.

I missed the Kickstarter campaign. Can I still get a copy of the launch issue?

You lovely lot snapped up all the print copies of the launch issue.
You can purchase a digital edition of Issue 1 here.

Can I get a digital version of the magazine?

Yes, you can! Issues 1-4 are available to purchase via Issuu.
It is recommended that you download the Issuu app to ensure the best viewing experience of the digital editions. This is compatible with Android and iOS users and can be used on your smartphone, tablet or desktop.
Please note: Digital magazines are not downloadable. You are able to read and enjoy via your app or desktop reader. The digital magazine is not a downloadable file and can not be printed or shared from your device.

Can I advertise in Shrunk magazine?

You sure can! Drop me a line at kat@shrunkmagazine.com for a media pack, ad rates and upcoming opportunities.

Can I contribute to Shrunk magazine?

I am currently commissioning content for upcoming issues of the magazine and for Shrunk’s online content and I’d LOVE to chat minis with you!
Email me at: kat@shrunkmagazine.com with a little hello and a brief outline of your pitch and we’ll take it from there. All mini scales and disciplines are welcome.
Doll’s houses, dioramas, dolls, we love it all!

Please note: The magazine serves an adult audience. Shrunk is not currently commissioning for children’s projects.

Writers: Please tell me a little bit about yourself and include a link to, or examples of, your work. (If you’re just starting out that’s no problem!) An interest in miniatures and craft is beneficial as is an awareness of interior design and lifestyle trends.

Makers: Please tell me a little about yourself, your favourite disciplines to work in. eg. polymer clay, woodworking, ceramics and include a link to a portfolio if possible.

An ability to commit to and meet editorial deadlines is essential.
All contributions are compensated.

Please be aware that Shrunk. is a magazine created for adult readers. The magazine and website will sometimes contain content and imagery deemed not suitable for young children.
Parental guidance is advised.
